Once again, its bad news :( Tuesday, 12 June 2001 @ 21:39 BST Posted By: AMDFreak
Well, seems just lately that V3Info is going through one hell of a bumpy ride :(
You may have read the other day that we discovered that we were unable to modify anything on the servers that we operate off, well; the reason for this has just been discovered.
Our hosting was generously provided by the good people at WireWalk, one of which being a good friend of mine. He supplied V3Info with hosting in its hour of need and we have been running from this server for the past few months, however, as always, all good things must come to an end :(
My friend just lost his job, and as a result of this, we have lost our hosting. With no host, there aint no site, it’s that bad.
V3Info.co.uk has had a long life (well 12 months is quite a long time), and with those months we have had our ups and downs. You may be thinking right now that I’m going to be chucking the towel in, well, you'd be wrong. I am trying to find V3Info a new host as we speak and have a good few ideas up my sleeve before I give up.
Lets call this V3Info's little break, we aint leaving, just taking a break to get back on our feet. Now, if you've read all of the previous stuff and are thinking that I am babbling on, well, you’re probably right, but it is near on 11:30pm here and I really could have done without this happening tonight!
I will be removing the contents of the site soon as to prevent upsetting anyone at our old host, I will redirect the disclaimer page to a page with updates as to what’s happening and as and when.
It’s been great people, we've achieved a lot, and when we return, we can achieve more. For the time being however, you will find me lazing my ass over at the VoodooSource.Net Forums.
Take care people Regards The V3Info Team |
Some V5 bios test results. Tuesday, 12 June 2001 @ 1:37 BST Posted By: SIRIS
Hello everyone,
I'm still laying low but am around. :) Anyway just wanted to post a link to what one person experienced while testing some V5 Bios'.
http://pub43.ezboard.com/fx3dfxfrm2.showMessage?topicID=699.topic
I figured it may be of interest to some. I didn't notice the Modified bios' being tested, But the 1.15 tested best. This is interesting, Makes me wonder how a Modified 1.15 would perform against the original? You might see one pop up soon???

Word Of Caution - You shouldn't flash like that ! Monday, 11 June 2001 @ 0:02 BST Posted By: Insomniac
I've noticed on the boards here and elsewhere that some people are flashing their cards in a Windows 'MS-Dos Box'.
You should NOT flash your card like this,
Some have said it works, but it's not worth the risk since your card is in use.
When flashing in REAL dos, (booting from a boot disk or pressing F8 and choosing 'boot do dos') it is not using the processing power of the video card, the output is just through the video card from the CPU.
So prevent problems, in future boot from a boot disk or straight to the 'dos prompt'. Never in an MS-Dos 'box' in windows. |
V3Info Site Update Difficulties Sunday, 10 June 2001 @ 10:49 BST Posted By: Insomniac
Due to reasons beyond the V3Info team's control, at this current time we cannot update the site, this isn't because the V3Info team chooses to, it's because the login and password used wont let us, rest assured it will be dealt with.
In the mean time the following errors have been found:
Voodoo5 PCI 1.00 BIOS Voodoo5 AGP 1.06 BIOS Voodoo5 PCI 1.11 BIOS Voodoo5 AGP 1.15 BIOS Voodoo5 AGP 1.16 BIOS Voodoo5 PCI 1.18 BIOS
Should be: Voodoo5 AGP 1.00 BIOS Voodoo5 AGP 1.06 BIOS Voodoo5 PCI 1.11 BIOS Voodoo5 AGP 1.15 BIOS Voodoo5 PCI 1.16 BIOS Voodoo5 AGP 1.18 BIOS

Wow, someone was sent bios updates from 3dfx Saturday, 9 June 2001 @ 14:50 BST Posted By: Insomniac
Apparently, a guy was reviewing a Voodoo 5 5500, and he was _SENT_ the bios updates by 3dfx.
Read the article here http://www.penstarsys.com/Reviews/video/v5_5500AGP/v5_5500_upd.htm
Main site address: http://www.penstarsys.com/index.html
he's also done some benchmarks.
Also, appears the whole 'these bios's are fake' shit has been shot in the head by a sniper it appears. Glad that's over with, and hopefully the guys here will be back on track.
Nothing worse than something not being fun anymore, anyway, enjoy! |
Lies, Lies, Lies, What's a site to do? Saturday, 9 June 2001 @ 5:10 BST Posted By: SIRIS
I have given AMDFreak my opinion that V3Info should probably CLOSE SHOP! I started doing what I did because others cared, Now it's not that way. As I said to him this was a Hobby not a Business! I Will try to support his decision, But I have lost almost ALL interest because of miss-trust! It's sad because V3Info wouldn't exist if it wasnt for the TRUST from all the Original V3 folks!
Those who know, KNOW! Those who don't WON'T! I guess that's it, bye ALL |
Here we go again :( Friday, 8 June 2001 @ 19:20 BST Posted By: AMDFreak
I recieved nearly 20 e-mail today concerning this thread.
I am going to repost something here what will hopefully put a stop to this, and believe me, the V3Info WILL go ahead with what we say...
I have contacted a Solicitor over the matter. What certain people are saying about the practices we do is classed as Slander and is punishable by the law.
Both actual damages and punitive damages can be seeked from the person who made the remark. We are well within our rights to take this course of action against individuals and all posts referring to this topic are being backed up for evidence if the need arises.
Come on, let this end, I really appriciate those who e-mail me, and if you DO see more of this sort of activity going on, please e-mail me at AMDFreak@BTInternet.com
Thanks again The V3Info Team |
Updates! Tuesday, 5 June 2001 @ 19:25 BST Posted By: AMDFreak
Well, thanks to Siris we have some new files!
- The Recovery Disk has been updated with the new version of the flash utility and a new readme file. - A Textfile containing the EXACT procedure has been added in the downloads area. - A Textfile containing the EXACT procedure for what to do if your flash fails.
We highly recommend you utilise the above when you update your Voodoo's BIOS :)
All the files can be found in the downloads area.
I am currently working on adding a 'HowTo' section, this should outline EVERYTHING you should ever need in exact steps :) |
A Notice From The V3Info Team Monday, 4 June 2001 @ 20:16 BST Posted By: AMDFreak
I thought it was about time to make this heard, its been upsetting the V3Info team for some time now... Here it is...
It has been brought to my attention that serveral people out on the world wide web have been claiming that we do nothing other than change the BIOS revision number in the BIOS and try to pass them off as newer editions.
This couldnt be further from the truth.
ALL BIOS's on this site have been obtained from OUR visitors, from LIVE voodoo cards out in that big old world. The ONLY BIOS's we 'hack' are those that are deliberatley changed ON REQUEST or to alter the ram timings (DRAMInit0) to ensure compatibility. We have added our website URL to the downloadable BIOS's in place of the serial number. We have remove the serial number for LEGAL reasons and to keep the BIOS size correct, so we added a version of our URL in its place.
Running a site like this, takes A LOT of man hours and money. We provide this all to our users with NO request for funding, NO banners and NO popups (not anymore anyway). Mallicious lies like this could land us in serious trouble, and this site would be gone.
Its about time for this to stop, if you see ANY more of the formentioned activity, please report it to AMDFreak@BTInternet.com ASAP.
Thanks The V3Info Team |
Voodoo 3 Voltage Modification Monday, 4 June 2001 @ 18:06 BST Posted By: Insomniac
I found this on my travels, passed it onto AMDFreak, and it's now part of the site and should be accessible on the menu in the top left :) |
More and more and more! Sunday, 3 June 2001 @ 21:40 BST Posted By: AMDFreak
Well, just did an update as I just recieved some updated statuses and new BIOS's from Siris :)
Here's whats changed:
1) Voodoo5 5500 1.00 BIOS - Tested, Verified as a PCI BIOS 2) Voodoo5 5500 1.16 BIOS - Tested, Verified as a AGP BIOS 3) Voodoo5 5500 1.18 BIOS - Tested, Verified as a PCI BIOS
2 Modified BIOS's have been added, they are as follows:
1) Voodoo5 5500 1.16 BIOS - New DRAMInit0 Value to match Pre-1.11 BIOS's (DRAMInit0 = Memory Timings) 2) Voodoo5 5500 1.18 BIOS - New DRAMInit0 Value to match Pre-1.11 BIOS's (DRAMInit0 = Memory Timings)
The two BIOS's mentioned above have been modified as above and are clearly labeled on the Voodoo5 5500 Page. This should solve all you hardcore overclockers problems :)
Also, a new Voodoo4 4500 BIOS has been added, BIOS 1.15 for AGP Cards has been added. This can be found on the Voodoo4 4500 Page. |
New Voodoo5 5500 AGP & PCI BIOS's! Saturday, 2 June 2001 @ 22:57 BST Posted By: AMDFreak
Yes, at last, some new BIOS's for the Voodoo5 5500 graphics cards!
BIOS revisions 1.00, 1.16 and 1.18 are all now available!
Please use the following page to download the BIOS's.
One final thing, these BIOS's are as of yet **UNTESTED** to the v3info standard that we usually employ. The only reason these are being made available is due to HUGE demand by you, our loyal members :)
So, You can get the new BIOS's from.... HERE!!!
Enjoy AMDFreak |
Happy Birthday V3Info & Affiliation Friday, 1 June 2001 @ 22:51 BST Posted By: AMDFreak
Well, today is V3Info's first birthday!!
The site has been live for 12 whole months now, its been through various changes over its time and has many more to come.
The first of these changes involves an affiliation with another well known and sucessful voodoo related website. V3Info.co.uk will be affiliating with the guys over at VoodooSource.net.
This affiliation will mean more news, reviews, information and a larger community for all the current members here at v3info.
We will be working closely together to bring you and others the most out of your voodoo graphics card :)
Right, that about covers it for now, more exciting news coming real soon! |
