The final Curtain. Sunday, 27 May 2001 @ 20:52 BST Posted By: StANTo
And so I hand in my letter of resignation as Webmaster.
Whether anyone cares or not, I don't know.
Since kicking along the ball that is V3Info, since AMDFreak first handed it over to me else it would've been destroyed, it's undergone a facelift, and, some other changes too. There are many aspects I'd of loved to see added to the site, unfortunately AMDFreak didn't, or wasn't, able to put the time aside to do them.
Going from the e-mails, and messages that's been received, I was never seen as the Webmaster to the site anyway, with messages concerning the site being passed on to other members aside from myself, with me being left in the dark.
So, I see no point in continuing to be the Webmaster, and I'm going to pass it back to AMDFreak.
You may still see me on the forum, no longer as an Admin, but just as a regular poster, and I'll take no further part in the site by any other means.
Was good being Webmaster, feeling that I was part of something that was quite a landmark, being able to modify the bios's of voodoos, and I was even witness to being able to flash a voodoo 5 properly.
Fairwell, I'll be around, somewhere.
Regards, StANTo. |

There are other minor things that really are not worth mentioning. More coming soon! |
A couple requests. Monday, 14 May 2001 @ 17:33 BST Posted By: SIRIS
Hello All,
Well I have received a V3 3k PCI MAC save.rom created with the PC flasher, I don't have a MAC to test this with so I am wondering if any of you have a MAC and a V3 3k PCI and would be willing to test flash this rom?
Second request, I have been notified that there is a Powercolor 3k PCI card and because someone lost their original save.rom after flashing one of these cards, I am asking that anyone with one of these please send a bios dump to emptyglassxxx@hotmail.com.
Thanks All |

An Apology & Update Sunday, 6 May 2001 @ 19:49 BST Posted By: AMDFreak
As stated earlier in the week, there was supposed to be a site update this weekend.....
Well, Ive had some personal / relationship problems over the week just gone and due to this, I havent had chance to do ANY work on the site.
However, my problems are on the mend, and at the first opportunity I get, I will do an update for the site.
Im working towards building up the info that got lost in the move and making the site easier to navigate.
This is me, signing off..... For now :) |
Someone's stealing the sections! Saturday, 5 May 2001 @ 17:11 BST Posted By: StANTo
Certain parts of the site appear to have vanished with the new design implementation and has only been noticed recently. To this end, new sections / features that're being considered / implemented are as follows:
1) Custom Driver Sets 2) Driver Hacks / Tools (Such as the HSR Registry Hack) 3) Voodoo Board Information Sections (Such as Voodoo Banshee & Rush) 4) How To...? Section (Such as Hack BIOS Files And Implement Registry Hacks) 5) We're Still Thinking Of Five.

Thankx to Siris, I just added the Avenger PDF file, it seems it was lost in the host move and site change. Unfortunatley I am currently using Linux and I dont have the to update the necessary pages. Avenger PDF Download
Im gonna do a nice site update this weekend and create a documents section with all the current info documents moved into it.
Also, I will post a screenshot of my new l33t Linux desktop soon :D
Thats it for now :) |
M3DZone Thursday, 26 April 2001 @ 22:45 BST Posted By: StANTo
Thanks go out to M3DZone for being co-operative over an issue concerning files that were taken in the early days from our site and were submitted to them. So I think they're worth a good mention :)
They host soom really hard to find files on the net, and a good set of drivers for all sorts of video cards, they also host DirectX 8.1, which enables such cool features like Precision Textures which made my Voodoo 3 seem like a new card !

New Utillity.... Well, text file actually :) Thursday, 26 April 2001 @ 20:08 BST Posted By: AMDFreak
Thankx to RobM from our forums for writing his little program, he made this available quite awhile ago and Siris was going to add the info in his own txt, but he never got around to it. He asked to post it as-is.
So...
I have just added PLLCTRL.txt to the Misc Downloads area. It lists all the values needed to create a custom clockspeed BIOS ranging from 140MHz to an astounding 240MHz.
Please be awear that you use this information at your OWN risk and we cannot be held responsible if you fry or even melt your card with this info.
Right, enough of me talking, go check it out!! |

Enjoy! |
New Sections Wednesday, 18 April 2001 @ 19:06 BST Posted By: StANTo
Well, the base documents are there, all that's required is the information and images for the cards Voodoo Banshee & Voodoo Rush.
I've also discovered where the Banshee drivers which work with Black & White come from, now you're linked directly to the site instead of the files and the files are no longer hosted here.
Have fun with them : )
Regards, StANTo |
Voodoo Banshee Section Wednesday, 18 April 2001 @ 14:30 BST Posted By: StANTo
V3Info will soon be hosting a new section which will run along side the other voodoo card information.
I noticed that there's some misinformation on the site concerning the Voodoo 1 and Voodoo Rush put into the same section when they're entirely different cards, and noticed there wasn't a Voodoo Banshee section.
So, this will be remedied, also, we'll be hosting some custom drivers that've been created which also use '3Dfx Tools' with some enhanced features, these have been tested to work with Black & White, however the Win2k variant doesn't come with 3dfx tools and hasn't been tested.
We hold no support for these drivers as we didn't create them and we'd be glad to give the person that did full credit if he/she wants it :)
Regards, StANTo |
V3 Does A Houdini Tuesday, 17 April 2001 @ 17:32 BST Posted By: StANTo

I'll be slowly updating it with more things than just information on voodoo BIOS's, so if there's anything someone thinks should go there just e-mail me,
thanks.

3dfx tools options... Monday, 2 April 2001 @ 22:01 BST Posted By: StANTo
Just fiddling around with 3dfx tools, and I've decided on a small quest, your help would be appreciated.
I'm after enabling every option possible in 3dfx tools, and I'm going to put them all in one reg file.
Ok, so I've already got HSR and Geometry Assist, can anyone send me the files to enable the other items please?
Cheers :)

Forum Status Update! Saturday, 31 March 2001 @ 14:01 GMT Posted By: AMDFreak
Right, after everything went pearshaped at midnight I resorted to my backup plan. So here is how everything stands right now:
Current Forums = Ultimate Bulletin Board 6 BETA 8.4 Old Forum Status = ONLINE - Reference ONLY!
The new forums are here to stay as they are a lot more efficient with our server's utilisation than UBB5.x was.
The old forums are active for reference only. You cant post new topics or reply's, all new posts go in the new forums.
ALL member data has been ported over to the new forum too (this was done by hand, about 2 minuites per user [2x300+ = long time]) so you dont need to re-register.
The menu on the left has been altered to point to the new forums.
So, here are the new links...
ACTIVE FORUM - Ultimate Bulletin Board 6.0 BETA 8.4 - Click Here REFERENCE FORUM - Ultimate Bulletin Board 5.45c - Click Here
Sorry for all the problems, and enjoy the new forums :) -AMDFreak |

Thanks Viza Tuesday, 20 March 2001 @ 22:50 GMT Posted By: StANTo
Viza from the v3 newsgroup has brought it to my attention that something's missing.
And it's the v3 architecture pdf document, about 1.7mb zipped, has vanished in the cross over.
However, I still have the file, so you'll see it up in the next site update :)

Well thats about it.. Oh! Im working on getting PollIt! working too!
Thats all for now peeps! |
Right, I'll note this again, and TAKE NOTE FOR YOUR OWN GOOD! Friday, 16 March 2001 @ 18:44 GMT Posted By: StANTo
When flashing your voodoo card, take note of the type of ram it is, and whether it's PCI or AGP.
When looking for an updated bios, only use bios's that're relevant to your type of card.
There's documentation on the site to check if your card's agp / pci (I think) and there's definately documentation on whether or not your card's SDRAM or SGRAM.
an SGRAM bios has -SG after it an SDRAM bios has -SD after it
this probably answers at least 6 of the problems posted in the forums lately :p
Regards, StANTo |

DivX on V3 Tuesday, 13 March 2001 @ 19:38 GMT Posted By: StANTo
It's possible that we've stumbled across an issue with DivX movie files and the V3 3000 AGP.
To ensure there there actually IS something going on, please ensure that the movie still acts the same in the following circumstances:
Resolution: 640x480 Bit Depth: 16bit Memory: At LEAST 32mb Processor: Preferably 350 or higher. Player: Media Player 6.4 HDD: 1gb or higher (this is here due to the buffer on the hdd and swap file space that should be available to the system)
if it doesn't meet this criteria then we can't be certain if the problems playing are due to the card, or due to the system. |
Something Old, Something New, Something Blue Tuesday, 13 March 2001 @ 9:18 GMT Posted By: StANTo
We don't borrow anything ;)
But something old is getting replaced with something new and it's blue! :p |
Links Bugs Saturday, 10 March 2001 @ 15:01 GMT Posted By: StANTo
Some of you may or may not notice, but there's a bit of a bug with the links in the top left, on some pages not all the links are there.
For example, the FAQ section has now appeared on the main news screen, but isn't viewable on the others.
Ah well, at least it's accessable from one page ;)

Voodoo 5 6000, Beta Drivers Thursday, 8 March 2001 @ 18:11 GMT Posted By: StANTo
Thanks to Peter Wilcox, I now have in my possession what appear to be Voodoo 5 6000 beta drivers version 1.2.00
Whether they actually are or not, and are from 3dfx remains unknown.
Also, I found some files that appear to have been leached from 3dfx containing video card bios's, Siris is still researching into them.
We'll let you know how we get on.

Catchya L8rz -AMDFreak |
Its so close, its scary Saturday, 3 March 2001 @ 23:18 GMT Posted By: AMDFreak
Well, the UBB is ported over, we are going to stick with 5.47c for now, maybe run an upgrade sometime in the near future.
I realise about 10 minuites ago that I had not proted the FAQ, thats done now and can be located in the Documents section.
Whats left to do...
1) Create a drivers page for Voodoo1 / Voodoo Rush 2) Create a drivers page for Voodoo2 1000 PCI 3) Create a drivers page for Voodoo3 2000 / 3000 4) Create a drivers page for Voodoo3 3500 AGP 5) Create a drivers page for Voodoo4 4000
Then after that, we launch the new site!
Its hard to believe that after a month of the original V3Info v2.0 project starting, that we are nearly there :)
Anyway, its 11:15PM here, I might get one last page done, but the site will go online tomorrow night for sure.
Right, Goodnight peeps, more tomorrow. AMDFreak |
Another update :) Thursday, 1 March 2001 @ 10:40 GMT Posted By: AMDFreak
Well its getting close... Very close...
I am aiming to launch the website within the next few days. Everything except the final UBB transfer and the last parts of the files section are done.
I have to have a quick chat to our host and see if they will allow us to host a special set of files I have collected. I have ALL the drivers for the whole range of voodoo cards and wish to upload them, however the size of all the files is quite substantial. Thankx go out to StANTo for his help with this, cheers bro :)
Well, over and out... For now... -AMDFreak |

We're nearly there!!! Monday, 26 February 2001 @ 12:38 GMT Posted By: AMDFreak
Yep, you heard me right. I hope to get the site finished this week and go online ASAP. The final deadline is Sunday, 4th March 2000, by this date the new site WILL be online :)
A few updates of whats going on:
1) The UBB has been reported and upgraded to UBB6 v7.9, there is still a few graphical errors which can be expected due to it's beta stages, so what I plan to do for the launch is to just transfer the existing UBB (5.47d) and use that for the time being. 2) Siris has provided me with all the BIOS's and some files for the files section, this will be completed ASAP. 3) Im feeling a lot better now, thankx :)
More updates soon! AMDFreak |
Yippee Friday, 23 February 2001 @ 2:51 GMT Posted By: StANTo

Update & Appology Sunday, 11 February 2001 @ 15:08 GMT Posted By: AMDFreak
Well, the site update is progressing, although somewhat slower than I would like, this hasnt been helped with the extra assignments from school and the fact that I am unwell.
Anyway here is the update....
1) Im working on uploading all of the Voodoo Drivers I can lay my habds on (WHQL and BETA states). 2) Im working on some reviews for the site (not strictly voodoo related) 3) Work is still progressing on the UBB v6, it is currently at 7.4 but the upgrade didnt go as smoothly as planned :(
Well thats about it for now, Im gonna go curl up in a corner with a hotwater bottle :)
Cya 4 now peeps AMDFreak |
Small Update Tuesday, 6 February 2001 @ 15:14 GMT Posted By: AMDFreak
Well, not much has happened over the last few days. However, I have been experimenting with the latest version of the Ultimate Builletin Board. This is Version 6 BETA, currently the latest build is 7.1 and the new features are really something!
I have a copy of the UBB v5 from the current v3info website and I am working on upgrading this copy to the UBB 6 code.
I will post more info as and when :) |
Host Move.... Friday, 2 February 2001 @ 22:20 GMT Posted By: AMDFreak
Well, I just completed the host move to the host what we will be using for the new site and such. The new site is hosted by WireWalk.com.
Due to an unavoidable error, all the news I had gathered since yesterday was lost :( But its time for a new start with some EXCELLENT information.
Siris will be rejoining the v3info.co.uk staff team. He left due to curcumstances that wont be covered here, but everything is now sorted out and he will be rejoining us :)
Heres a basic summary of what was lost in the news.....
1) I scrapped the old POLL sctipt and replaced it with PollIt! v2.05 2) I have created the 'Staff Area' and added a few nice features. 3) I am working on customising the forums to match the new site. 4) I have added 5 pixel margins to each side of the site to make the borders look better. 5) I have cleaned up the HTML on the main pages some more. 6) The 'Files Area' is not about 55% complete. 7) I added a '/dev/null' comment on the 'About Us' page - Lack of anything better for the box :) 8) I am in the progress of spellchecking the whole website. 9) A New disclaimer is in the works and is roughly 15% complete. 10) NewsPro CGI News Posting Script installed, configured and tested. 11) A Temporary POLL has been installed. I might change it yet, dunno.. 12) The disclaimer is up, but needs debugging and spellchecking :) 13) StANTo has NewPro Access so he can post news. 14) The 'Files Area' is roughly 40% complete at this time. 15) The 'About Us' area is 90% complete at this time. 16) The site's templates are 100% complete :) 17) The 'Archived News' page is about 35% complete, debugging and linking left to do. 18) I just implemented the nice scroolbars that you can see to the right :) 19) One more thing, the version of the forums stored on my PC are now colour co-ordinated with the site. Personally I think they look quite smart *biased oppinion* :)
Well, that about sums it up :)
More updates coming soon! |
